It's the first con I've been to since this same con last year.
AND IT WAS AMAZING.
The best panels by far were the IRL Guide for Otakus, Peanut Butter Zombie Time (discuss your plans and opinions on the zombie apocalypse), and War Stories (the guests relate horror stories of past cons). Yuri Lowenthal was attending this year, and the guy is just amazing. He was so freaking cool, even though we kind of scarred him during the War Stories panel. All I'm gonna say is: security and goats.
Con goodies included two figures (Dr. Destruction and epic-styled BatGirl), the first volume of Kurashina-sensei, some Gin and Hiji coin figures, a slew of prints, origami cranes (I love them, I had a friend who used to make them for me), an Ergo Proxy wallscroll, Tony's Art Works artbook (Shining World edition), a Hibari pocketwatch (and throw pillow, with a Zero one as well), a fair amount of the usual JP snacks and beverages, and DVD versions of Battle Angel and Battle Arena Toshiden. I also bought 2 Kerori notebooks and the 2nd volume of Betterman for my friend who couldn't come (she has the first volume). That series is fucking weird, but also fucking cool.
Of course there were plenty of other things I wanted, but a con's not a con unless you have to suffer over deciding what you want more with your limited funding.
I also had Yuri sign 3 of my games (G.U., Tales of the Abyss, and P3) since he played the main character in all of them, as well as record a favorite line of his for me in German on my phone. He went with Haseo's "SKEEEEEIIIIIITTHHHH!!!" call, but that's okay.
Next time I'll have him sign my Kyou Kara Maoh! boxset.
Aside from that, I found it...riDICUlously amusing that almost everyone who passed me at the con when I was sitting by myself, zoning out and sketching, all seemed afraid of me. Anyone who actually spoke to me was extremely hesitant to even get my attention, let alone talk to me. One girl cosplaying Dizzy from Guilty Gear tapped my shoulder to get my attention (I had my headphones on), and if not for the fact she did 4 or 5 quick touches, I would've thought she was just brushing against me while shifting, it was so light. And then when she asked to borrow the arm of my chair to lean against, she was very polite and soft-spoken, and almost a bit anxious.
I found it quite funny.
And this happened with EVERYONE who talked to me, aside from when I was speaking up in discussions during panels.
All in all, the con was pretty well done. I really enjoyed it, and went to more panels then I normally do.
In regards to the rest of life, I'm working on my first ever cosplay (Badou from DOGS), I may soon have a job for security detail that pays 20 BUCKS AN HOUR, FULL TIME. I also hope to have art up soon for both a potential webcomic (I'm so fucking lazy, I dunno how that'll go) and my friends and my collaborated series.
Now, I have work to do.
